The Sun Boat of Pharaoh Khufu    (Photo Gallery)

In the valley of Giza, near the Great Pyramid, it is possible to admire the sun boat of the pharaoh Khufu, the most ancient boat of the world. This boat was probably used for transporting the body of Khufu from the kingdom of the alive ones, on the oriental shore of the Nile, to the kingdom of the dead ones, on the western bank. For its construction cedar of Lebanon has been used, and its length is of 42 m. The boat was dismounted and secret with care to the feet of the pyramid of Khufu, inside a pit. The archaeologists, after having recovered it, successfully reconstructed the boat without particular problems.
